Royal de Boer barn equipment for young stock
Ready, Set, Headstart.
Good young stock forms the foundation of a strong and profitable herd. What animals gain during this phase is reflected later in their health, behaviour and performance. That is why it is essential to invest in calmness, comfort and a well-designed barn from the very start.

A new young stock barn where everything fits
At dairy farm De Dullink in Dronten (NL), this is clearly understood. A new young stock barn was built where everything is aligned. The layout is clear, cow routing is logical and the animals move calmly through the barn. This is reflected in their behaviour: calves that lie down calmly, stand up easily and develop evenly.

Adaptation and comfort
Cow comfort
The lying areas play a key role. With Durasoft mattresses and Gummystuds rubber mats, the animals are provided with a comfortable and stable surface, encouraging rest and proper development.
Youngstock Safety Feed Fence
Preparation for the future also starts at the feeding fence. With the self-locking Youngstock Safety Feed Fence, animals learn from an early age to feed calmly and take their place at the fence. This reduces stress and prevents adaptation issues when moving into the dairy herd.

Also for dry cows
Dry cows are also housed in the same barn. These animals feed via self-locking Access+ Safety Feeding Fences, designed to provide maximum accessibility, extra space and freedom of movement at the feed fence. This contributes to a calm feeding environment and improved efficiency.
For lying comfort, Royal de Boer Akwatopsoft waterbeds have been applied. These adapt to the shape of the animal’s body and provide optimal lying comfort. This creates calmness within the group and makes feeding more practical and manageable.

A good start pays off every day
The combination of the right barn solutions, a well-thought-out layout and flexibility in execution results in a barn that simply works in practice. Less stress, better animal development and more overview and ease of work for the farmer.
